This is clearly a game designed for wheels, and pads have not had much love. The controls, just like in Shift1, need a shedload of tweaking to make the game playable on gamepad. In Shift2, clipping the edges is a decision, not an obvious choice. In Forza you can treat the track boundaries like part of the track - there doesn't seem to be any appreciable difference between boundary and tarmac. Other games feel so horribly flat in this regard. This goes much further than the usual vibrating controller - in Shift2 putting a wheel on the boundaries while trying to corner at breakneck speed is a risky move that might just see you ass-backwards staring down the headlights of an opponent. The track edges are raised, just like in real life, and you can feel the difference when you put a wheel on them. The tracks are bumpy - real-to-life bumpy. The game does a wonderful job of making you feel one with your car. However, even with all assists on, and driving mode set to easy, you'll still need to control your car a lot more than some games. Like Ben said, you can turn a lot of options on or off to make the game more or less arcadey.

NFS SHIFT 2 TUNING SETUPS SERIES

It's not as in-depth or realistic as something like the GTR series form SimBin, but it's more realistic than your average racing game. It's nowhere near as arcadey as the other NFS titles, and is definitely geared towards petrol heads and hardcore racers. As such, this will be partly my impressions of the game, and partly touching on some of the things Ben mentions in his review.įor those unfamiliar with the series, it's the sim arm of the NFS franchise. I came here to write up my early impressions of Need For Speed: Shift 2: Unleashed: The Mouthful, only to find KUCHERA! has beaten me to it with an OT review.
